Enforcement – does FINMA need fines and a senior management regime ?

Once again, there is an ongoing discussion as to whether FINMA’s enforcement instruments are sufficient or whether FINMA’s powers should be expanded. The lecture examines whether a « senior managers regime » and fine powers of the supervisory authority would also be appropriate in Switzerland. The backdrop to the lecture are empirical data collected as part of the research project on « Global Enforcement in the Financial Industry » financed by the Swiss National Science Foundation and led by Roy Gava and Urs Zulauf at the Centre de droit bancaire et financier.

The conference is free of charge but registration is mandatory.
